In a way, writing is the unsung hero of our world. Whether it's copy for your website, a blog, a bio, a speech or marketing materials there is a constant need for writing. Not just any kind of writing though good, high-impact writing! Most people can write, many even like to write. There's a sense of pride that comes along with setting pen to paper (or really fingers to keyboard) and writing a message about you or your business and sharing it with the world. Two things to know before working with a writing coach 1. Writing coaching is a unique service! Though you are bound to gain some valuable knowledge about writing, it's NOT about being your editor or writing teacher. Think of it as having a writing mentor. The focus of this service isn't on spelling and grammar, but rather lifting your writing so that it grabs the reader's attention and moves them to action! An indispensable resource to have in an age where the vast majority of communication, especially all important introductions, are done through words on a screen rather than in person with a handshake. 2. To get the most out of your coaching, the best thing to keep in mind, is that the coach is there solely to support you. That being the case, any recommendations made are done so never to disparage the piece, but rather to embrace who you and your company are and have it reflected in the piece. This is what opens the reader up to taking the next step to work with you because they connect with what makes you and your company unique and special! What does the writing coaching process look like?
A simple 3 step process 1. It all starts with gathering a little info about your project. Details like: What is the piece about and what tone are you looking for? How long is the piece? What is the deadline? 2. Once all that is straightened out and you e-mail the piece, I'll take time to review it and compile notes outlining my recommendations. 3. With that done, we connect at an agreed upon time to discuss the notes and go over any questions. |
